Colorado Springs police ID suspect in pharmacy robbery

Colorado Springs police identified the 55-year-old man suspected of robbing a pharmacy at gunpoint Thursday afternoon.

Roy Pollette remained held at the El Paso County jail on $50,000 bond Friday, a day after detectives suspect he fired a shot into the ceiling of a pharmacy while demanding medication.

After his arrest Thursday, Pollette told officers that he "hurt badly" the night before the robbery and he couldn't get an appointment with his physician - leading him to try to get medication from The Medicine Shoppe, 2726 N. Union Blvd., the affidavit said.

When pharmacists refused his demand, Pollette allegedly threatened to burn the building down, the affidavit said. Police allege he then went to his car and returned with a gun and a gallon of gasoline.

After he fired the round, pharmacists gave him two-and-a-half bottles of Percocet. No one was injured, and officers arrested him a short time later on suspicion of aggravated robbery of a controlled substance, a felony.
