A man was found dead Tuesday night with an apparent gunshot wound inside a home west of downtown Colorado Springs, police said.
Officers responded to "a burglary in progress" just before 10 p.m. on the 400 block of West St. Vrain Street before police learned that shots were fired.
It is unclear how the man's death is connected to the initial burglary call.
Police said there is no threat to the community after investigators "contacted all of the individuals known to be associated with this investigation."
Further details were not released.
As of 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, investigators with the Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit were still at the scene. Crime scene tape and police cars were blocking off St. Vrain Street.
A few neighbors were standing nearby but knew little about the residents of the home where the body was found.
