Colorado Springs police have arrested a man suspected of robbing several businesses in the past two months using a knife or a rock as a weapon.

John Uaisele, 32, was arrested Wednesday as he left a motel room in the 1600 block of South Nevada Avenue. Police said they identified a suspicious car at a robbery Wednesday that they later found in the motel parking lot.

Uaisele is a suspect in six robberies between Oct. 1 and Nov. 8. In four of the robberies, police said he threw large rocks at victims before taking the cash drawer. In two, he was armed with a knife.

Uaisele is believed to have held up a Valero gas station and convenience store at 716 E. Fillmore road around 12:20 p.m. Wednesday in which a female employee was roughed up, Gazette news partner KKTV reported.
No weapon was seen by employees during the robbery, KKTV said. The robber fled before police arrived.

The employee was treated at the business for minor injuries.

Police suspect Uaisele in the following robberies:

Oct. 1, 8:30 a.m. -- Shell Service Center at 1590 S. Academy Blvd.

Oct. 31, 3:25 p.m. -- Subway at 2345 E. Platte Ave.

Nov. 2, 6:15 p.m. -- Taste of China at 1811 S. Academy Blvd.

Nov. 5, 2:34 p.m. -- 7-Eleven at 328 E. Platte Ave.

Nov. 7, 1:00 p.m. -- Kwik Stop at 847 E. Platte Ave.

Nov. 8, 12:20 p.m. -- Valero gas station at 712 E. Fillmore Road.
