Police arrested one at a late-night party in eastern Colorado Springs after receiving multiple calls of shots fired.
Colorado Springs police received the first call about a shooting and a victim down at the 2400 block of Lark Drive at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, police did not find any victims, shell chasings or blood. It was later discovered that police were given the wrong address.
People continued to report shots fired to police. Witnessess in the area said they had seen nothing but thought an unoccupied silver sedan that was parked in the street was involved.
Officers left the area at about 1:30 a.m., until returning about 2:15 a.m., when they received a final call to the correct address that people were now back at the silver sedan attempting to get it started. Officers conducted a high-risk stop of the vehicle and detained five.
Interviews with the detained revealed that two different groups were attending the party on Lark Drive when someone started shooting. One of the five detained, Antonio Washington, pulled out a .22 caliber AR-15 rifle and shot in the air several times.
Washington, 23, was arrested on suspicion of prohibited use of weapons by a previous offender.
