Colorado Springs outslugs host El Paso in a marathon

Colorado Springs prevailed over host El Paso 15-11 in a four-hour, five-minute game Tuesday night.

The Sky Sox put together 17 hits and scored six times in the seventh and four in the ninth for the final difference.

Brett Phillips led the way going 3 for 6 with two homers, four RBIs and three runs. Nate Orf had three hits and two runs and Kyle Wren had three hits, two runs and two RBIs.

Sky Sox pitcher Wei-Chung Wang got his first victory of the season (1-0) for his 11/3 innings in relief at the end.

El Paso picked up 12 hits and scored all 11 of its runs in the fifth through eighth innings to tie the game heading into the ninth.

Ivan De Jesus Jr. and Lewis Brinson each had two hits, two RBIs and two runs for Colorado Springs.

The Sky Sox went through six pitchers on the evening. The Chihuahuas used five on the mound.

El Paso only had one extra-base hit, a double.
