The Colorado Springs Regional Business Alliance is accepting nominations for its Business Citizen of the Year award as part of the organization's November dinner gala.
The event, which will be held Nov. 9 at The Broadmoor International Center, will look at organization's achievements over the past year. It will be the first such dinner for the Business Alliance since it was formed after the 2012 merger of the Colorado Springs Regional Economic Development Corp. and the Greater Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce.
"This is going to have more of a celebratory theme because we have a lot to celebrate," said Julie Boswell, the alliance's chief operating officer. "We're now more of an evolved organization and we've achieved a lot in that process and it's been a lot of people helping us do it."
In past years, the Chamber of Commerce presented a Business Citizen of the Year award. But last year, the alliance didn't have time to give the event the attention it deserved after the merger of the organizations and subsequent staff changes, Boswell said, so without the dinner, no award was given for 2012.
Nominations for this year's award are due by 5 p.m. Oct. 9. Forms can be accessed on the alliance's website: www.coloradospringsbusinessalliance.com/library/2013BCYAward.pdf. Forms also can be faxed to 471-9733 or mailed to the Colorado Springs Regional Business Alliance, Attention: Business Citizen of the Year Nomination, 102 S. Tejon St., Suite 430, Colorado Springs, CO, 80903.
Nominees should be leaders in their companies or professions; demonstrate a level of civic and community involvement; show a willingness to participate financially or personally in assisting business and community projects; and exhibit leadership in successful community projects.
