Justin Jay Hatfield, the man wanted by Colorado Springs police on suspicion of the kidnapping and sexual assault of another man, was arrested Thursday, according to police.

Hatfield, 38, was booked into the El Paso County jail, records show.

Police released a statement with Hatfield's mugshot Wednesday, saying he should be considered dangerous.

Hatfield allegedly kidnapped a man Monday night after pretending to be out of gasoline near Garden of the Gods Road and 30th Street, police said.

Hatfield allegedly threatened to kill the victim and forced him to drive to an unknown area on Gold Camp Road, according to police.

The victim was able to escape hours later when he and Hatfield drove to the King Soopers store on Fillmore Street and Centennial Boulevard, police said.

Police did not release information on how Hatfield was found or taken into custody, saying the investigation remained active, according to spokeswoman Lt. Catherine Buckley.

Hatfield will be advised of the charges at the El Paso County courthouse on Friday, records show.
