Colorado Springs police did not suspect foul play after a man told them he accidentally shot himself in the stomach Monday.

Officers were dispatched to 2045 S. Corona Ave., east of Southgate Road, to a reported shooting around 12:53 p.m.

Police found a 34-year-old man had mishandled a loaded .45 caliber semi-automatic gun and had shot himself.

The man was taken to a local hospital and treated for serious but non-life threatening wounds, police said.

Violent Crimes investigators responded to the scene and did not suspect foul play had taken place, police said.
