A Colorado Springs man was accused of trying to impersonate a police officer and with driving under the influence, police said.
Willie Greene III, 40, was arrested on suspicion of impersonating a police officer, obstructing a peace officer and driving under the influence, then booked into the El Paso County jail, records show.
Police got a call from the 1900 block of E. Bijou Street about 10:30 p.m. Sunday reporting that someone was claiming to be a police officer. When officers arrived, the victim identified the suspect and its vehicle as it pulled away, and police stopped the driver, identified as Greene.
Greene was allegedly confrontational and physically resisted arrest, prompting an officer to use a stun gun to subdue him, police said.
Investigators discovered residents had seen Greene's vehicle circle the area numerous times and suspected he was going to commit a crime, police said.
When two residents tried to take a photograph of him, Greene allegedly confronted them, claimed to be a police officer and said they were interfering with his investigation, police said.
Greene will be advised of the charges Tuesday, court records show.
