A Colorado Springs man with a history of charges in El Paso County was sentenced last week for illegally possessing explosives.

Arthur Ray Hickman, 45, will serve 24 months in prison, U.S. District Court Judge William J. Martinez decided on May 29, with three months of supervised release after his sentence, a U.S. Department of Justice news release said.

Before the explosives incident in 2012, Hickman was convicted of possessing stolen property in San Diego County, Calif., and illegally possessing firearms in Minnehaha County, S.D. In El Paso County, he was previously convicted of possessing a controlled substance, forging a government-issued document and two counts of identification theft.

The explosives were found in his home when the Colorado Springs Police Department investigated Hickman in connection with a 2012 fraudulent check case.

Police Department searched Hickman's home in April 2012. They found a box of dynamite in Hickman's bedroom. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives assisted in the investigation.
