A 23-year-old Colorado Springs man pleaded guilty Monday to vehicular homicide in a drunken-driving crash that killed two people on Old Stage Road in March 2017.

Wyatt Richard Beaman pleaded guilty to two counts of vehicular homicide involving drugs or alcohol and two counts of vehicular assault involving drugs or alcohol, all felonies, court records show.

Kelby Engleen, 21, of Des Moines, Iowa, and Jacob Busch, 33, of Colorado Springs, died in the wreck. Three others, including Beaman, were injured.

They were riding with Beaman when he failed to turn, and his 2001 Jeep Cherokee tumbled off the road and down a ravine, the Colorado State Patrol said. The crash happened about 6 miles from where the road's pavement ends.

Beaman is to be sentenced Sept. 14, court records show. He posted $20,000 bond on May 12, 2017, the day after he was arrested.
