A Colorado Springs man put up quite a fight when police tried to subdue him, smashing his head into a glass partition inside a patrol car and knocking himself unconscious.
Latterick Glasper, 25, received medical treatment for several self-inflicted injuries and was booked into the El Paso County jail on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon, possession of an illegal weapon and second-degree assault on a peace officer, police said.
Around 9 p.m. Wednesday, a man identified as Glasper caught the attention of drivers on the 2500 block of East Platte Avenue, according to police. People called 9-1-1 and reported the man was walking in the middle of the road and hitting the hood of a car with his fists, as cars swerved around him to avoid striking him.
Two Colorado Springs police officers responded and tried to calm Glasper down, but he allegedly kicked one of the officers in the face.. Two El Paso County sheriff's deputies joined the scuffle and it took all four to subdue Glasper, police said.
After being placed in the back of a patrol car, he rammed his head into the glass partition, significantly injuring himself on the forehead and losing consciousness.
Police took him to a local hospital for medical treatment and later booked him into jail, where he was held as of Thursday, on a $1,000 bond, records show.
Police said the officer Glasper allegedly kicked sustained minor injuries and resumed her shift.
