Colorado Springs Police said a man accidentally shot himself Saturday afternoon while cleaning a handgun in his car.

The man spilled soda on the gun and police said it discharged when he replaced the magazine after wiping it.

The 24-year-old man injured his left hand, left thigh and left calf.

He was transported to Memorial Hospital and was in fair condition, police said.
