A Colorado Springs man died in a traffic accident in Ohio while he was riding his motorcycle Tuesday night, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
William Evans, 67, was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle when he did not stop at a stop sign, the State Highway Patrol said, and was hit at about 8 p.m. by an 85-year-old man driving a Lincoln Town Car.
Evans was wearing a helmet, and was riding with Shirley Evans, also from Colorado Springs. Thomas Lane, a friend, said Thursday that the two were married.
"He was an avid motorcyclist," Lane said.
Both William and Shirley Evans were airlifted to Cleveland Metro Hospital from the scene, the State Highway Patrol said. William was pronounced dead shortly after arriving and Shirley was in critical condition, the State Highway Patrol said.
The driver of the Lincoln was taken to a hospital but no information was provided on his condition.
