Darrell Kion Innis, 31, of Colorado Springs, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree sexual assault and held on a $10,000 at the El Paso County jail Sunday, after police said he raped a woman at his apartment.
Colorado Springs police were dispatched to the 2700 block of Arlington Drive, east of South Circle Drive, around 1:53 p.m., when friends of the victim called police and reported she had been raped and the suspect was still at the scene.
According to police, Innis was very aggressive and refused to comply with their commands, physically resisting arrest and injuring two officers as they took him into custody.
The victim told police Innis had invited her to his apartment for drinks and that they had never met prior to the assault. She told police Innis started groping her and she could not fight him off, then he allegedly raped her.
The victim's friends heard her screaming from inside the apartment and called police, helping her escape.
Innis was also arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault on a peace officer.
