Colorado Springs Police arrested a man Tuesday after he allegedly pointed a shotgun at a neighbor and tried to break into his house on the north side of the city, police said.

Police said that 26-year-old Michael Cross had been drinking and was attempting to intervene in what he believed was an assault occurring in the home at the 4100 block of Tulip Way, south of Garden of the Gods Road.

The homeowner was able to grab the gun and restrain Cross until officers arrived around 11:30 p.m., police said.

Neither the man nor family members home at the time were injured during the incident, police said. Cross was arrested on suspicion of felony menacing.
