Colorado Springs man accused of stabbing his mother and brother

A family fight escalated when Colorado Springs police said 21-year-old Andrew Aleman stabbed his own mother and older brother, fueled by alcohol.

Aleman was booked into the El Paso County jail on suspicion of felony assault and held on a $10,000 bond, court records show.

Aleman allegedly hit his mother and cut her with a sharp object, then stabbed his older brother repeatedly with a pocket knife when he tried to defend their mother.

Police said Aleman and his family had been drinking when the fight broke out shortly after midnight Tuesday at their residence on the 1100 block of Mt. Werner Circle, east of South Nevada Avenue.

Officers chased Aleman through the neighborhood as he fled on foot, but found him minutes later on South Cedar Avenue.

The mother and older brother sustained non-life threatening injuries and were expected to make a full recovery, police said.
