A hiker who fell an unknown distance at Snyder Quarry near Manitou Springs on Tuesday night was rescued and taken to the hospital.

A search and rescue team was sent out just after 8 p.m. and found the hiker about 8:55 p.m., said El Paso County Sheriff's spokesman Jeff Kramer.

The hiker was believed to be in his early 20s, and initial reports indicated he had a head injury.

Kramer said he believed the man was conscious and responded to the rescue team before being taken to Memorial Hospital just before 9:30 p.m.
