Brother Luck, owner of Four by Brother in Colorado Springs and a contestant on "Top Chef" 15, won the "Last Chance Kitchen" this week in Episode 7, "Olympic Dreams."
Luck had packed his knives during Episode 6 and was sent to Last Chance Kitchen, where he won the challenge against Tu David Phu.
Thursday evening, he was praying, "Please, baby Jesus, don't send me home."
Here's a recap of the Elimination Challenge and Last Chance Kitchen results:
The Elimination Challenge had three teams' chefs displaying their speed, precision and creativity. Joe Sasto won the challenge. Tanya Holland lost and was asked to pack her knives and head to Last Chance Kitchen, where she met her rival, Luck.
The Last Chance Kitchen challenge is usually 30 minutes long. Its judge, Tom Colicchio, announced the challenge would be 15 minutes in keeping with speed, one of the criteria for the Elimination Challenge.
Luck said, "Make it 10 minutes."
Holland asked, "What are we making?"
Colicchio said, "Any dish."
Hesitantly, Holland agreed to 10 minutes.
The timer was started, and the chefs dashed to get their proteins. Both went for fast-cooking fish. Luck grabbed rainbow trout, plus cauliflower, chorizo sausage and spices. Holland went for salmon steak and arugula, tomatoes, peppers and spices.
During breaks, interviews found Luck saying, "This is not my time to go. I've got more chefs to beat. I've got to get back on the show. I regret yelling out '10 minutes.'"
Bottom line: Both chefs met the challenge, but Luck's flavors were judged better.
"That's two-for-two," he said. "I'm on a warpath."
He moves on to the next round of Last Chance Kitchen on Episode 8 at 8 p.m. Thursday on Bravo.
