Colorado Springs police arrested a suspected marijuana dealer Friday in Acacia Park with the aid of the city's downtown surveillance cameras.

Richard Heskett, 59, was arrested on suspicion of distribution of marijuana and other felony drug charges, police said.

About 1 p.m., a police volunteer monitoring the surveillance cameras from the Gold Hill subdivision contacted officers to report a drug transaction in the park.

When officers responded to the area, the volunteer contacted them again to report another drug transaction. Officers met with Heskett and determined he had sold a small amount of marijuana to an unidentified customer, police said.

"The officers recovered the suspected marijuana from the customer as well as an additional amount of marijuana from Heskett, who was also in possession of additional items consistent with the distribution of narcotics," police said.
