St. Jude Children’s Hospital patient Kaylee was 10 years old when she was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, or a cancerous tumor on the cerebellum portion of her brain. Kaylee described how doctors explained her diagnosis using Play-Doh. “I didn’t really understand what cancer meant… but I know I was devastated.”

Shortly after Kaylee’s diagnosis, her entire family moved to Knoxville, Tennessee from Colorado Springs to begin her cancer treatment at St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Kaylee’s mother Jennifer recalled the shock she felt arriving to what she expected to be a more solemn environment, “We walked in and everybody was happy and parents were playing with their kids... I’m devastated because my kid has cancer and everybody else’s kids have cancer, so why are they so happy? And it’s just because they were at St. Jude.”

The St. Jude Dream Home® Giveaway directly benefits cancer research and supports services for patients like Kaylee and their families. The 2018 Colorado Springs St. Jude Dream Home® house was built by Covington Homes in the Banning Lewis Ranch development and has an estimated value of $465,000.

To support patients like Kaylee at St. Jude Children’s Hospital, purchase your $100 St. Jude Dream Home® Giveaway ticket at dreamhome.org or by calling 1-800-379-5217.
