FRISCO — A Colorado family had all but given up hope that their dog Chloe was alive after she went missing for five weeks, but they've been reunited with their 14-year-old lab-pit bull mix thanks to a couple of neighbors.

The Summit Daily reports that Alma residents Larry Osborne and his wife, Anouk Patel, put the entire town on alert after Chloe went missing in August on Mount Bross.

Osborne says they held a memorial for the dog, and he even told his son that she had died. But on Sept. 22, Chloe was returned to them weighing about one-third the weight she was. A veterinarian said malnourishment and dehydration were here only problems.

Trinity Smith and her boyfriend Sean Nichols rescued Chloe after seeing an online post about hikers hearing barking.
