Gazette Premium Content Colorado College signs new contract, hockey returning to former broadcast home

By Joe Paisley Updated: August 26, 2013 at 12:20 pm

For the first time, Colorado College hockey games will be broadcast on both the AM and FM radio dials after the school signed an agreement with KRDO.

KRDO 105.5 FM/1240AM will serve as the flagship station for the CC Tigers Sports Network for the 2013-14 season, the program’s first in the inaugural National Collegiate Hockey Conference.

The broadcasts will include award-winning play-by-play announcer Ken Landau and will also be available online and via smart phone applications. The pregame shows will increase from 22 minutes to 37.

“KRDO NewsRadio 105.5 FM and 1240 AM is thrilled to have Colorado College hockey back,” program director Mike Lewis said.

KRXP 103.9 FM had broadcast the CC games for the past seven seasons, according to CC sports information director Dave Moross. KRDO did the broadcasts the 14 years prior.

KRDO will broadcast the monthly Scott Owens Coach’s Show from 6-7 p.m. with an extra show in February for Denver week.  The dates are: Oct. 15; Nov. 5; Dec. 3; Jan. 14; Feb. 11, Feb. 18 and March 11. The site is to be determined.

“We’re very excited to have this association with KRDO again,” said Owens, who enters his 15th season (317-204-68). “It’s somewhat of a natural fit in that KRDO has a historical understanding of CC hockey and has a strong local sports presence as well.”

The partnership includes the usual promotional spots but will also include a new CC hockey segment KRDO’s new Sports Edition at 10:30 p.m. Sundays.
