Colorado College hockey picked up a commitment from Odessa Jackalopes goalie Jon Flakne, 20, on Thursday.
The North American Hockey League netminder is scheduled to sign with the National Collegiate Hockey Conference program when the NCAA signing period starts on Wednesday (lasting until Aug. 1).
Since his junior eligibility is expiring, he should join the Tigers this fall.
The Maple Plain, Minn., native, who played three seasons at Orono High School, was traded to Odessa from the Minot Minotauros midway through last season to help the Jackalopes reach the playoffs.
He went 7-6-2 in Minot and 15-17-3 (3.70 goals against, .894 saves percentage) in 1 ½ seasons in Texas.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound lefthander was 8-12 this season (3.58 goals, .896 saves) while sharing the starting job. Odessa concludes its season with two games this weekend.
“Colorado College has a great academic program as well as a great hockey program, so it will be nice to be able to balance the two out,” Flakne said. “Academics has always been important to me, especially going through high school, and that’s something I want to continue on, especially when I was looking for a college.”
He will take the roster spot of graduating senior goalie Derek Shatzer.
