Freshman goalie Alex Leclerc recorded a career-high 45 saves to garner his second college shutout in a 3-0 win over then-No. 12 North Dakota on Saturday and earn his second National College Hockey Conference rookie of the week honor on Monday.

He received two goalie of the week honors earlier this season.

On Saturday, the Quebec native made 16 saves in a first period dominated by North Dakota and added another 21 in the second en route to the victory.

His stats have steadily improved, going from a cumulative-worst 5.51 goals against and .787 saves percentage after the Boston College loss on Oct. 21 to 3.16 goals and .900 saves after Saturday’s win.

The rookie finished the series with 83 saves on 87 shots faced, the most saves in a weekend series by a CC goalie since Nov. 23-24, 2012 (87, Joe Howe).

“He has been playing great since before Christmas break,” Tigers freshman Alex Berardinelli said.
