THE GAZETTE - Published: October 22, 2013

Colorado College has received an $800,000 grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to support its strategic plan. It's the largest donation the college has received from the foundation.

The college will use the money over the course of four years to strengthen its block plan, in which students study one subject at a time in three-and-a-half-week segments.

The college plans to develop a field study office for faculty to incorporate field-based study into their courses.

The grant also allows the college to develop programs in a new Center for Immersive Learning and Engaged Teaching. The center will be located in the upcoming renovated Tutt Library and be available for students and faculty to explore innovations, share discoveries and learn about research opportunities.
