Starting with the 2018-19 season, the National Collegiate Hockey Conference will schedule its regional rivalry games during the final weekend to minimize travel before the playoffs, according to the league's annual report, which was released Thursday.
That means the return of the Colorado College-Denver series in early March 2019. That tradition ended following the 2009-10 season to avoid a rivalry weekend "emotional hangover" entering the postseason, then-Tigers coach Scott Owens said.
The other regional rivalries, as determined by the league, are: North Dakota-Omaha; St. Cloud State-Duluth and Western Michigan vs. Miami.
