Bukowski Dick Bukowski Feb. 21, 1939 - Nov. 19, 2013 OUR LIVES GO ON WITHOUT YOU, BUT NOTHING IS THE SAME. WE HAVE TO HIDE OUR HEARTACHE, WHEN SOMEONE SPEAKS YOUR NAME. SAD ARE THE HEARTS THAT LOVE YOU, SILENT ARE THE TEARS THAT FALL; LIVING WITHOUT YOU, IS THE HARDEST PART OF ALL. YOU DID SO MANY THINGS FOR US, YOUR HEART WAS SO KIND AND TRUE; AND WHEN WE NEEDED SOMEONE, WE COULD ALWAYS COUNT ON YOU. THE SPECIAL YEARS WILL NOT RETURN, WHEN WE ARE ALL TOGETHER; BUT WITH THE LOVE IN OUR HEARTS, YOU WILL WALK WITH US FOREVER. We love and miss you, Vicky, Mike, and Mark, all of your grandkids and great-grandkids, and extended family and friends.

Van Alstyne Sr. Joseph A Van Alstyne Sr. 1931 - 2017 Joseph A. Van Alstyne Sr. went to be with the Lord on November 14, 2017. He was 86 years old. Born in Canon City, Colorado, on March 18, 1931, Joe graduated from the Holy Cross Abbey, also in Canon City. He was proud of his Colorado roots and enjoyed sharing stories about his Colorado experiences with family and friends. A devout Catholic his entire life, he was a member of the Corpus Christi parish in Colorado Springs for over 50 years. In addition to his strong faith and Colorado pride, he was a devoted Broncos fan and cheered the team on no matter how well their season went. Joe lived a renaissance life, with careers that varied from saddle shop owner to civil service work to auto mechanic. He loved cars and fishing and was a well-known trivia hunter who was curious about everything, especially history. In his later years, Joe traveled extensively with his wife Lieselotte, visiting places like Germany, Holland, Italy, Mount Rushmore, and the Durango Silverton Railway just to name a few. Outside of his family, Joe's greatest passion was music. He played the upright bass for many years and was a member of "The Twilighters" music group, where big band music, waltzs, and polkas were on the playlist. Even during his later years, he could always sing the lyrics of many a classic tune. While Joe faced vision challenges for much of his life, he did not allow that to keep him down. He always found a way to persevere and even thrive no matter where he was or what he was doing. That, along with his infectious sense of humor, helped make him an inspiration to all who met him. Joe is preceded in death by his parents Harry and Mae Van Alstyne, his sister Sr. Dorothy Van Alstyne, and his first wife Mary Van Alstyne. He leaves behind his wife Lieselotte; his sister Betty Chess; his children Gale Titus, Sherrie Nordstrom (Barry), Becky Tomek (Mark), Joe Van Alstyne Jr. (Linda), and Theresa Coe (Lyell); eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Viewing will be held at Cappadona Funeral Home at 1020 E. Fillmore Street, Colorado Springs, 80907, on Tuesday 5-7 pm. Rosary at 10:00 am, Corpus Christi before Mass. A Catholic mass will be held at Corpus Christi Church at 2318 N. Cascade Avenue, 80907, on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 11:00 am followed by a graveside service at Mountain Vale Cemetery in Canon City.

Harris Larry James Harris September 3, 1950 - November 11, 2017 Larry James Harris was born on Sunday September 3, 1950 in Colorado Springs to Orla Junior Harris and Helen Enola Harris (Peterson). As a fourth generation Coloradan his heart and soul was tethered to Colorado and the mountains he so loved. Larry attended Columbia Elementary, North Junior High and William J. Palmer High Schools. Through Junior High and High School, he was always walking the thin line between fun and trouble. The stories Larry and his best buddy Dennis Kerr would tell about their adventures as a youth always made you wonder how they made it to adulthood with all of their limbs intact. Larry graduated from Palmer High School June 6, 1968. After high school, Larry and his buddy Dennis Kerr enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Larry was a navigator, Quartermaster 3 E-4, who served on the USS Detroit stationed out of Newport, RI. He was honorable discharged from active duty in October 1973. Larry loved the outdoors and his career choices never confined him to an office. He worked for Lucas Sporting Goods, General Fishing Tackle, and as a grounds keeper for School District 12. His last career job was working for the Colorado State Parks System. When not working, Larry spent most of his time enjoying the Colorado mountains. Larry met his best friend Debra (Debi) Johnson, in January 1978 and they began dating in April 1978. They realized they were soul mates and became engaged in June 1979. The native Coloradans had an outdoor wedding and married May 21, 1983 with the smell of spring flowers in the air. For on that day the lilacs were in full bloom throughout the city. Never apart for more than a few days, Larry continued his adventures with Debi up until his short illness. Larry died peacefully surrounded by loved ones in UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central. He will be missed by all that knew him. Larry is survived by his wife Debra Harris, mother-in-law Patricia Lyon, in-laws Cheryl Bryant, Belinda and Bob Putman and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Richard Harris. Private services and inurnment.

Jackson Marion Elizabeth Jackson 1920 - 2017 Marion Elizabeth Jackson passed away quietly in her sleep on October 15, 2017 at the Bruce McCandless Veterans Home in Florence, Colorado. She was born on June 28, 1920 in Manhattan Kansas to Leona and Raymond Jones. She grew up in Kansas City and Topeka, attending Topeka High where she was a cheerleader and ran track. She met her husband Tom on a blind date and they were married December 16, 1942. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary together shortly before he died in 2013. They lived in Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa before finally settling in Colorado in 1967. They raised 3 daughters. Marion was a devoted volunteer for years with the USO and served on the staff of the USO for 11 years. Early in her marriage she wrote a book called "Army Wife", publishing it herself which discussed the difficult year when her husband Tom was a WWII POW. Marion was a lifelong bookworm who read 5 - 7 novels a week and also enjoyed embroidery and travel. After her husband retired they bought a motorhome and traveled all over the United States often taking grandchildren with them. She cherished the memories of those trips. Marion was nominated for Silver Queen of the Colorado State Fair in 2013. She had 3 children, 9 grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Tom, her daughter Pamela Rinck, her brother Raymond Jones and her beloved Son-in-Law, Roger Murdick. She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Murdick (Jeff) and Debbie Phillips (Marty) of Colorado Springs, her 9 grandchildren, Thomas (Sylvia), Kathy (Wes), Harold, Linda (Ken), Larry Jr, Holly (Erik), Michael, Matt and Laura (Mike), her Great Grandchildren, Elizabeth, Alek, Keyra, Maurice, Trenton, Seth, Noah, Joshua, Ken III, Khloe and Joey. We would like to thank the staff of Bruce McCandless Veterans Home where our Mother received excellent care in the final years of her life and a special thanks to Nurse Nancy who was our Mom's favorite. A private family memorial service is planned for next summer.
