  • October 21 - BENSON Roger E. Benson Roger Benson passed away on October 8, 2014. He was born on October 1,1927 in Hordville, Nebraska. His parents were Henry Morris Benson and Jennie Amelia Person (Benson). Roger lived in Hordville, Nebraska until 1946 when he was inducted into the United States Army. After discharge from the Army in 1949, he attended Luther College in Wahoo, Nebraska. It was there that he met Mary Jane Olson of Chappell. On June 1,1952, they were married in Chappell. After living in Wahoo and Chappell,they moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in May of 1955. Roger was employed by the Colorado Springs Police Department in 1956 serving there until 1986. Roger and Mary Jane had three sons - Steve, Brad and Jeff. Roger was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers and sisters. Nothing was more important to him than his family. He is survived by Mary Jane, and his sons Steve (Terri) of Colorado Springs, Brad (Sharon) of Moreno Valley, CA, Jeff(Jane) of Littleton, CO. He is also survived by four grandchildren - Bryan of Riverside, CA, Matthew (Jeret) of Fort Collins, CO Holly (Luke) of Aurora, CO, Katy of Lakewood, CO, and by his great-grandson Rivers. After retirement in 1986, Roger kept busy bowling, bike riding and singing in a number of Choirs, including the Colorado Springs Choral and Soli. Deo Gloria. He also sang many solos in church services and weddings. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 28, at 3:30 at Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Colorado Talking Book Library,180 Sheridan Blvd., Denver, CO 80226.
  • October 21 - JAUREQUI David M. Jaurequi David, a long time resident of Colorado Springs passed away in his home on October 13th. David proudly served two years in the US Navy during World War II and was a thirty-year veteran of the US Air Force serving in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Retiring in Colorado Springs, David worked in civil service at ENT Air Force Base and Peterson Air Force Base for twenty years. David considered his service in the US Military a true honor and privilege. It was one of his greatest passions in life. David is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary Elizabeth Seitz and was a devoted father to Elizabeth Weiland (Fred), Bernadette Jaurequi, Monica Jaurequi, and David Paul Jaurequi. David also has seven grandchildren (Heather, Nathan, Adam, Matthew, Marc, Tim and Wayne) and three great-grandchildren (Dylan, Julie and Isaiah). "Daddy, you put the happy in all of our lives." There will be a private ceremony at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver on October 21st.
  • October 21 - RAYMOND Imogene "Jean" Raymond August 7, 1926 - October 16, 2014 Imogene Raymond, 88, of Colorado Springs passed away October 16, 2014. She was born in Henderson Kentucky, on August 7, 1926. She was a loving wife and mother of seven children. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, George P. Raymond of Detroit, Michigan. She was a devoted mother to her seven children, Gary P. Raymond, Gregory P. Raymond (Karen), Jenice A. Tarr (Steve), Cynthia L. Tucker (Thomas), Glenn P. Raymond, George P. Raymond (Sherry), and Lynn M. Raymond (Lauren). She will also be dearly missed by her eleven grandchildren, Jennifer Carpenter (Bo), Raymond Tarr (Carolyn), Thomas D. Tucker (Sharron), Steve P. Tarr (Kelly), Melanie Holifield (Kevin), Amanda Lightfoot (Brian), Julia Raymond, Michelle Raymond, Cory Raymond, Lexie Uff and Chelsea Renaud (Hunter); her nineteen great-grand children; and her great-great-grandchild. Memorial Services were held Monday at The Springs Funeral Services. Graveside Service, 12:15PM, Tuesday, October 21, 2014, Fort Logan Cemetery, Denver, CO.   • October 21 - SHIDLER Heather E. Shidler January 15, 1970 October 14, 2014 Heather (Baker) Shidler, 44, passed away on October 14, 2014, after a long hard fight with a serious illness. She has gone to be with the Lord. She was born on January 15, 1970 in Toledo, Ohio to Bruce Baker and Judi (Keith) Campbell. Heather grew up in Colorado Springs. She attended Coronado High School, then went to St. Mary Corwin Respiratory School. She worked as a Respiratory Therapist at Memorial Hospital and Florida Hospital in Orlando. Heather is survived by her children Anthony Baker, Patrick Shidler, Jr., Chelsea Adams and three grandchildren. Also surviving are her mother, Judi Campbell; sister Toni (Tonya) Baker of Colorado Springs, sisters and brother Alicia, Brittany and Eric Baker of Solon, Iowa and step-parents Bud Perry and Karen Baker. Heather was preceded in death by her father, Bruce Baker; her grandparents George and Rosemarie Keith and Richard and Mary Ellen Baker. Heather loved like no other. She lived every day to the fullest. She will be truly missed. A Celebration of her life will be held on November 1, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Calvary Worship Center, on the corner of 30th and King Street, Colorado Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to an account that has been set up for Heather's son Patrick Shidler, Jr. at Wells Fargo Bank.
