  • August 18 - DUVALL Alan Douglas Duvall July 16, 1959 - August 10, 2017 Alan Duvall, 58, of Colorado Springs, passed away on 8/10/2017 after a brief illness. Alan was born on 7/16/1959 in Coffeyville, KS to Jackie and Mary Jane Hopkins Duvall. Alan earned a B.S. in Physics at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in 1981. His varied technical career included systems engineering roles with DynCorp, Nichols Research, Madison Research, bd Systems, Honeywell, and USAF. Alan was recognized for his work at NASA MSFC on Gravity Probe B. He was a longstanding member of the Association of Old Crows. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Aleta Basenfelder Duvall; son Robert with daughter-in-law Lindsay and grandson Benedict; daughters Eva and Angela; mother Jane; and brother Steven with niece Jacklynn. A Memorial Service will be held 4 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2017 at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80909. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to one of the following in Alan’s honor: The Nature Program by PBS; Destroy Pancreatic Cancer; Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation; Eye Bank Association of America.
  • August 18 - GILCHRIST Donald Humphries Gilchrist February 26, 1944 August 17, 2017 Donald Humphries Gilchrist departed this life on August 17, 2017 after a two-year battle with brain cancer. He was born in Goodland, Kansas on February 26, 1944 to Fred and Clara (Bock) Gilchrist. He moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado when he was eighteen months old. He attended Queen Palmer Grade School and later, Wasson High School, where he learned the printing business, which was his occupation for the next thirty-eight years in District 11, retiring in 2000. During those years, he had many hobbies which include, building his own home, a side printing business, working with ornamental iron, restoring a 1930 Model A Ford, and was an all- around mechanic and handyman to his friends, family, and neighbors alike. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister. He is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Sharon Taylor Gilchrist; his daughter, Pamela Dawn (Danny) Maez; one granddaughter, Jenna Nestola; many nieces, nephews and other family; and a host of friends. He faithfully attended Faith Covenant Bible Chapel for over forty years, and will be greatly missed by all. Visitation, 2:00PM-4:00PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 4:00PM, Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Faith Covenant Bible Chapel, 1311 Columbine Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80907.

Chae was born in Seoul, South Korea to Chom Am and Yong I Song on Dec-ember 27, 1944. Chae was a mom, sister, and Emo (aunt in Korean) to her many family members   Chae was preceded in death by her sisters, Sun I Chong and Chun Cha Song. Chae is survived by her husband, Johnny Rice; her son, Michael Oboley; granddaughter, Alyssa Oboley; sisters, Chong Peters and Sun AE Pang; brothers, CY, Robert, and William Song; seventeen nephews and nieces; and many, many great-nephews and nieces.
