Lang Alan Jerry Lang September 10, 1955 - December 13, 2017 On Wednesday, December 13, 2017, Alan Jerry Lang of Colorado Springs, CO passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 62 years. Al was born in Des Moines on September 10, 1955, a son of Jerry and Gloria (Pedersen) Lang. He graduated from Hoover High School in Des Moines and later attended Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny. On August 2, 1975, Al married Erna Basconcillo at the Highland Park Presbyterian Church. Al was known for his love of nature, especially hiking, camping and fishing. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years, Erna, his two sons Dan (Danielle) of Reading, MA, and Derek (Jenni) of Denver, CO, his grandchildren, Xander, Hannah and Addie, parents Jerry and Gloria Lang of Des Moines, sisters Sally (Darwin) Smith of Indianola; Sharon Mayer (Larry Stevens) of Ankeny; and brother Tom (Luann) Lang of Ankeny, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Raymond and Ila Lang of Des Moines and Pete and Lucy Pedersen also of Des Moines. Family, friends, and others whose lives Al has touched are invited to the Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 321 Euclid Ave., Des Moines, IA, from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018, to remember, grieve, and support each other.
