  • May 22 - SITAR Joan L. Sitar Joan L. Sitar, 85, of Las Vegas, NV, formally from Colorado Springs departed this world on Friday, May 15, 2015. Joan was born February 15, 1930 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to Walter and Rose Berry. She graduated from St. Mary's HS in 1947. Joan is survived by her son Stephen (Cynthia) Sitar of Las Vegas, NV and daughter Lois (Richard) Wenger. Grandchildren Dustin, Sandy, Jacqueline, Diana and Brian. She was preceded in death by husband Emery Sitar and brothers Raymond, Donald and Walter Berry. Graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery on Saturday, May 23rd at 10:00 a.m. in Colorado Springs.
  • May 22 - TORO Raul F. Toro July 7, 1980 – May 16, 2015 Raul F. Toro was born on July 7, 1980 and passed away May 16, 2015. Raul was working as a mover for Johnson United. Raul was preceded in death by his Brother, David Martinez. Raul is survived by his Wife, Larissa Martinez; Daughters, Leuree Martinez, Amaya Martinez, and Eseperanza Martinez; Son, Raul F. Toro,Jr.; Mother, Paula Martinez; Sisters, .Alejandrina Martinez-Coplan, and Adel Rivera – Brown. A Viewing and Service will be held from 6 -8 pm on Friday, May 22, 2015 at Chapel of Memories of Funeral Home.
  • May 22 - WEBER William Weber December 12, 1932 - May 18, 2015 William Phillip Weber, loving husband, father, and grandfather and longtime resident of Colorado Springs, passed away peacefully at age 82 on May 18th. Bill was born in Evanston, Illinois to William and Jeanette (Hoth) Weber on December 12, 1932. He graduated from New Trier HS in Winnetka, IL, where he was state wrestling champion in his senior year, and from University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in Civil Engineering. He entered the USAF after college and was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska, where he monitored construction projects developed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Bill came to Colorado Springs in 1957 to work for HDR Engineering. After HDR, he formed his own firm, Karcich & Weber. Subsequently, with his friend and partner George Jury and others, he worked in land development. Through all this, Bill made significant contributions the City’s development and growth, including the construction of Austin Bluffs Parkway, many projects for the City Parks Department and the Municipal Airport, and the creation of Stetson Hills, among many others. In the late 1980s, Bill and George brought back the Appletree Golf Course in Fountain and were also instrumental in forming Citizens Cable. Bill and his wife Carol also started the Colorado Country Antique Mall, which has endured for over 20 years. The mall recently changed owners and was renamed—in Bill’s honor—as the Sweet William Antique Mall. Bill was an avid golfer and a longtime member of the Country Club of Colorado. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Carol Weber; sister Jeanne Archer, of Paradise Valley, Arizona; son Jeff Weber (Jennifer) of Boulder, CO; daughters Patty Nelson (Dave) of Avon, CO and Cathy Holmes (Brad) of Lonetree, CO; stepson Jon Wainwright of Austin, TX; stepdaughters Judy Monroe (Jeff) of Lillington, NC and Susan Bruner (Brad) of Parker, CO and grandchildren Amie, Elli and Max Weber, Cooper Anderson; Spencer Holmes, Emily Poor; Katy, Blake and Max Bruner; Chelsea, Taylor and Keaton Monroe; and Katy and David Wainwright. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Bill’s life at the Country Club of Colorado, Lakeview Terrace Room, 125 Clubhouse Drive, on May 28th, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bill’s name may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care, 2550 Tenderfoot Hill St., Colorado Springs, CO, 80906.
  • May 22 - WILLIAMS David Williams David Williams, born November 15, 1922, died in his home in Colorado Springs May 14 2015. He is survived by his wife, Hazel, daughters Dana Lamb (Mike) and Kirsten Vohland (John), and grandsons Chris Hobson, Erik Vohland, David and Scott Lamb. David was born in Portland, Oregon to the late Ira and Jessie Williams. He earned his college degree in physics at Reed College in Portland. He began his career at Inyokern in California. He then served in the US Army where he was stationed in Georgia and at Los Alamos, NM. He moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in the late 1940's where he worked as a physicist at Sandia Base and met and married his wife of 63 years, Hazel Pierce. David and family moved to Colorado Springs in 1960 where he worked for 26 years as a research scientist at Kaman Sciences. The work he did was instru-mental in the defense of our country. There will be a memorial on June 6, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the All Souls Unitarian Church, 730 N Tejon St, Colorado Springs, CO 80903. In lieu, of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
