Freeman Edward Anthony Freeman June 13, 1962 - May 4, 2018 Mr. Edward Anthony Freeman, born on June 13, 1962 in Ayer, Massachusetts, to Gloria J. (Freeman) Dockham and the late William R. Freeman Sr, passed away at age 55 on May 4, 2018 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Edward graduated from William J. Palmer for high school. He was an employee at Poor Richard's Toy Store. Edward was preceded in death by his brother, William R. Freeman Jr. He is survived by his stepfather, Richard G. Dockham Jr; son, Nickolas; daughters, Tiffany, Sophia, and Samantha; 8 grandchildren; sister, Pamela J. (Freeman) Stephen; and stepbrothers, Richard G. III and Michael R. Our memories of Ed will forever be in our hearts and hope that he has found peace and happiness. He will be missed.

Kadrmas Ronald Lynn Kadrmas July 23, 1956 - May 8, 2018 On May 8, 2018 Ronald Lynn Kadrmas died in Pikes Peak Hospice after a long battle with Guilian Barre Syndrome and complications of the illness. Ron was the oldest son of, Edwin Kadrmas (1934-2006) & Melda Kadrmas (1941-2013). He is survived by three brothers, Robert (leslie), Russell (Patti), and Roger, nephew, Bradley and niece, Lauren. For 35 years Ron was involved in mapping, airbrush art and technical illustration. He worked as a print art director and magazine and music CD graphic designer. After graduation from art school, he worked for Victor Books and the Focus on the Family publications. Flowers and donations can be sent to his home (call 720-453-4736 for the address) A memorial will also be at his house, and backyard he loved so much, on May 28 at 2PM, BBQ to follow. Kotval Leslie "Les" Frank Kotval February 8, 1931 - April 5, 2018 Leslie (Les) Frank Kotval passed away April 5, 2018. He was born February 8, 1931 to Frank & Iva Kotval in a small farming community, Vesta, MN. He often talked about how the family was so poor that they did not have running water nor electricity. He attended a one-room school house which consisted of all eight grades. The teacher even made lunch for the children! By time that he was a teen-ager, the family move to a larger town, Echo, MN. The parents put in indoor plumbing and electricity in this new home. At Echo High School, he excelled in football, baseball and basketball in spite of his mother's request to not participate in those dangerous activities. After high school, he attended Macalester College for twoyears, then he transferred to the University of Minnesota where he obtained his Business degree. After spending two years in the Army he returned to the University of MN to earn his CPA designation. He worked briefly for Price Waterhouse in Chicago. He returned to Minnesota to work for General Mills. In 1961 he joined Medtronic, Inc. an up and coming medical company which introduced the heart pacemaker. He was the Chief Financial Officer as well as being vice-president and treasurer. In1972 he left Medtronic to pursue other interests. In 1978 the family moved to Colorado Springs so he and his wife Barbara could play golf all year! Unfortunately, Barbara passed away in a short time. In 1987 he married Susan Tong. He and Susan travelled all over the globe but they were always glad to return home to Colorado or to their winter home in Scottsdale, Arizona. They were active supporters of the local art scene, including the Colorado Springs Philharmonic and the Fine Art Center. They were members of the Broadmoor Community Church and the Country Club of Colorado. Les played tennis up to his 80's and always managed to beat Susan! They were also avid bridge players and spent many an hour or two playing bridge with friends. Les was a collector of rare books. He loved to watch baseball when the Rockies were playing. He also was a die-hard fan of the Broncos, usually watching them on TV as did not like to drive to Denver. He & Susan had season tickets at The Air Force games and they spent many Saturdays at tailgate parties with friends to watch the team. Dancing was another activity that they enjoyed. They belonged to several dance clubs. Les was very much a "ladies man" dressed in his tuxedo as he took Susan to dinner and danced the night away. Kindness and integrity best described Les. He was a kind man and disliked any confrontation. He was a model citizen - obeying ALL laws. If the sign said "NO PARKING", he would drive around until he found a spot to park the car. And he was sure to have every item documented in his income tax returns! Les was predeceased by his parents, and his first wife, Barbara and his brother Floyd Kotval. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Susan; daughter Susan (Jeffrey)Figgs; son Perry (Katy) Kotval; stepsons, Dr. Kevin (Debrah) Tong; Clayton (Linda) Tong; step daughter, Syrilyn{Kathy Ferrell) and nine grandchildren: Barbara, Luke{Ashley) Rachael and David Figgs; Brandon, Elizabeth and Kyle Tong Alexander and Andrew Kotval. He is also survived by his sister, Joyce McKay of Redwood Falls, MN. The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 2 at 11:00 A.M. at the Broadmoor Community Church, 315 Lake Avenue. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to the Broadmoor Church, the Colorado Springs Philharmonic or the Fine Art Center.

Allen Joy Lee Allen October 29, 1928 - May 23, 2018 Born October 29, 1928 in Arista, West Virginia to Thomas and Alma McCormick. Left to meet her Lord and Savior, and back into the arms of the Love of her life, Joe Ray Allen on May 23, 2018. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Susette (Larry) Henry, Susanne (Bob) DeGennaro, Brian (Diana) Allen, and Vincent (Tara) Allen. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. As a dedicated Air Force wife, Joy traveled the country with Ray and their children, to multiple bases across the country for the first twenty-one years of their marriage. Along the way, they met many lifelong friends, which Joy continued to have contact with until her death. Joy lived in Security, CO from 1973 until 2005 when she moved to Pueblo West, CO to live with her son and his wife. Martinez Fred Jose Martinez July 23, 1928 - May 22, 2018 Mr. Fred Jose Martinez, passed away on May 22, 2018 at the age of 89. He was born July 23, 1928 in Turkey Creek (Gardner), Colorado to Manuel Martinez and Lupe Ortivez-Martinez, who preceded him in death. He has been a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado since 1956. Mr. Martinez served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict for two years. He retired from the United States Air Force Academy in 1984 where he was employed as a Civil Service Food Service Supervisor, in the Cadet Dining Hall with over twenty-five years of service. He was preceded in death by sister Ofelia Barela, brother, Eugene Martinez and son, Freddie Martinez, Jr. He leaves behind his wife Bernice Martinez of 65 years, siblings George Martinez, Wilfred (Marti) Martinez, Rudy (Nancy) Martinez, Esther Cantu, Carmen Cordova, Charlotte (Bob) Lujan and Linda (Ben) Quintana . Daughters Lydia Martinez, Jenny "Janet" Martinez, Cindy (Oscar) Halaby, Genevieve (Ken) Salazar, Ruby (Phil Gonzales) Nombrano, and son Ralph (Sarah) Martinez . Opportunity to Object Pikes Peak Ranger District Priority Permits 2018 Pikes National Forest El Paso and Teller Counties, Colorado As the Responsible Official, Oscar Martinez has prepared a draft Decision Notice/Finding of No Significant Impact (DN/FONSI) selecting the proposed action of the Pikes Peak Ranger District's Priority Permits Project Environmental Assessment (EA). Under this decision a priority outfitter and guide permit would be issued to Hike for Life LLC for 300 service days annually for guided hiking, and a priority permit would be issued to Great Outdoors Adventures for guided OHV and e-bike tours and rental delivery. Modifications were made to the OHV routes and number of service days annually, and one rental delivery location was eliminated. The permitted activities are located on the Pike National Forest, Pikes Peak Ranger District. The guided hikes that Hike for Life would conduct are on the Crags, Devils Playground, Horsethief Park, Red Rocks and Lovell Gulch Trails. The OHV and e-bike tours and rental delivery would be on designated roads in North Divide, Rainbow Falls and Rampart Range areas. Canno Beatrice B. Canno May 15, 1927 - April 13, 2018 Our Lovely Garden Island Flower, Beatrice Brun Canno, born in Koloa, Kauai, Hawaii on May 15, 1927, passed from this world to be with her Lord, on April 13, 2018 in Flower Mound, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Joseph J. Canno Jr. of Maui; and is survived by her four children, Joseph J. Canno III, Bridget Myers, Teresa Payne, and Michael Canno; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Routt of Westlake, Louisiana. Beatrice was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. In 1956 Bea and her husband, Joe made Colorado Springs their home. Her natural beauty and smile warmed hearts and could break barriers; a woman of boundless energy, creative talents. Bea's beautiful laugh and sense of humor gave so much joy. Regarded as an accomplished cook, painter, a porcelain doll maker and green thumb gardener; Bea did not shy from trying new ventures and speaking her mind. Her family's hope is that the apples do not fall far from this beautiful tree. Bea was a devout Catholic. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 10:00a.m. at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 4925 N. Carefree Circle, Colorado Springs, CO 80917. Reception to follow. Flowers are welcome.

Zengerle Teresa "Tessa" Ann Zengerle July 23, 1958 - May 12, 2018 Teresa Ann Zengerle, age 59, died on May 12, 2018 at her home in Colorado Springs. She was an Administrative Assistant at Goodwill Industries and was a loving daughter, mother, sister and friend. Teresa Ann Zengerle was born on July 23, 1958 in Honolulu, Hawaii to the late George James and Dolly Ann (Bainter) Zengerle. She grew up in Colorado Springs and was a graduate of Wasson High School in 1976. She met and married Jimmy Garcia and later divorced. She was preceded in death by her mother, in 2016, and her beloved son, Michael Zengerle, in December of 2017. She is survived by her brother: George James Zengerle of Pueblo, Colorado; her step-daughter: Christina (William) Cunningham of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her niece, Stephanie; and her former husband, Jimmy. She also leaves behind her beloved dogs, Zena and Jazz, and her cat, Lulu. Teresa loved reality TV, helping others with advice on life situations, and her animals. She will be dearly missed. Haughton Gloria D. Haughton July 28, 1930 - April 25, 2018 The family of Gloria D. Haughton is deeply saddened to acknowledge her passing on April 25, 2018 at the age of 87. Gloria was born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 28, 1930, the oldest of four children to the late George A. Dragan, MD and Madeline (Kish) Dragan. In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved husband of more than 60 years, Wilson; siblings, George and Susan, brother-in-law, James Williams, and grandson, John. She is survived by her sister, Carole (Tony) Vogue, sister-in-law, Eleanor Dragan, brother-in-law, Mark Place, and her three sons and their spouses: George (Peggy), David (June), and Wilson Jr. (Sonia); five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Gloria was educated at the University of Pittsburgh where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Nursing Education degrees. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society and Recipient of the Federal Nurse Traineeship Scholarship for graduate study. In 1974 Gloria was named Nurse of the Year, District 3, by the Colorado Nurses' Association. After working in various nursing and faculty positions, Gloria became Director of Nursing Education at Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing in McKees Rocks, PA. In 1968 she and her family relocated to Colorado Springs where she became Director of Nursing Education at Beth-El School of Nursing. In 1972 Gloria was appointed Vice President of Nursing at St. Francis Hospital, a position she held until her retirement in 1984. Gloria was very active in her community and served on many boards and committees including: Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees, Memorial Health System Auxiliary, English-Speaking Union (Colorado Springs Branch), Pikes Peak Community College Nursing Advisory Committee, and the University of Southern Colorado Nursing Advisory Committee. She was a long-standing member of First Presbyterian Church and the Colorado Springs Country Club. A celebration of Gloria's life is scheduled for Friday, June 1 at 2:00 p.m., Swan-Law Chapel, 501 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80903. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Ecumenical Social Ministries, 201 N. Rubin Kathryn Rubin May 12, 1923 - May 14, 2018 Kathryn was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Mina and Louis Heyman on May 12, 1923. Kathryn grew up riding horses, doing well in school, and graduating from Albuquerque High School in 1940. She married Leon Rubin of Raton, New Mexico, on January 6, 1946, after Leon returned from WWII and owned successful clothing businesses in Raton. Kathryn and Leon were married for close to 67 years before Leon passed away on January 1, 2013, one day short of his 93rd birthday. Kathryn was noted for her generosity, love of people and their personal lives, and helping her friends and extended family with anything she could do to make their lives better and happier. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a remarkable memory of almost everything in her life and the lives of friends and family. Kathryn was named the Jewish Pioneer of New Mexico, on June 4, 2017, and received this honor in Santa Fe, witnessed by many friends and family, being only the 19th to receive it. She was also a Paul Harris Fellow in the Downtown Rotary Club where her son is president. Kathryn was named to the Trinidad State Junior College Foundation's Hall of Fame in 2013 and was on the Educational Foundation board for over 20 years. She was involved with many organizations in Raton, including music and the arts, PEO, and others. Her mind was sharp until the very end of her life. Kathryn is survived by her two sons, Randolph and Ron, and their families: Randolph's two children, Nina and Benjamin, living in California, and Ron and his wife, Karen (Berenstein) Rubin and their two children, Gillian (Dan Rollins) Rubin-Rollins of Colorado Springs, and Daniel (Tammy) Rubin and their children, Reizy, Shloimy, Rochel, Moishe, and Yossi, of Beitar, Israel; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members. Johnson Harriet Elizabeth Johnson June 20,1920 - May 21, 2018 On Monday, May 21st, 2018 Harriet Elizabeth Johnson (Wyatt) passed peacefully to be with her savior at the age of 97 years. She was born June 20th, 1920, the only child of Dr. James Tilman Wyatt and Edna Wyatt (Hammel) in Hennepin, Illinois. In childhood the family moved to Roanoke, Illinois where she grew up, attending Roanoke public schools and graduating from Roanoke High School in 1938. In childhood she displayed promise in music, eventually studying piano and voice at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois where she became a member of Delta Omicron Music Sorority. She then attended Brown Business School in Peoria, Illinois in the secretarial program and briefly worked as a secretary for the Girl Scouts headquarters in Peoria. On July 27, 1941 she married, Albert M. Johnson who predeceased her in 2005. She is survived by 8 children: James, Dodge City, KS; JoEllen Streit, Indianapolis, IN; Anne Joseph, San Diego, CA; Janice Allton, Woodland Park, CO; Helen Harrington, Central Sq, NY; Thomas, Glenville, NY; Jean Johnson, Columbus, OH; and Donald, Gardnerville, NV. She was much loved by 20 grand children and 15 great-grandchildren. In the 1960s she was elected the first woman Elder of the First Presbyterian Church, Owego, NY and also served as an Elder in the First Presbyterian Church, Las Cruces, NM. Harriet was active in the church for most of her life, not only with administrative duties but also as a choir member, vocal soloist, pianist and organist. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church choir, Owego, NY, the Motet Singers of Binghamton, NY, a soloist with the Binghamton Symphony and Choral Society and as a member of the SUNY Binghamton Chorus and the BC Pops of Binghamton, NY. She and her husband retired to Las Cruces, NM where she was an accompanist in the Music Department at NMSU, Las Cruces, and a member of the choir of the First Presbyterian Church of Las Cruces. She served as Assistant organist at First Presbyterian, Las Cruces. She and Al moved to Colorado Springs in 1999 where she was accompanist for children's choir at First Presbyterian Church, and a choir member of First United Methodist Church (UMC). She performed as a vocal soloist for several family weddings and took great joy in music her entire life. Cremation will be at Swan Law in Colorado Springs. The family plans a celebration of life for her 98th Birthday, June 20th, 2018 at 2 PM at First UMC in Colorado Springs. In Lieu of flowers, donations to Springs Rescue Mission.

Kraker Margaret Kraker May 11, 2018 Margaret Kraker, 83, passed away on Fri, May 11th at the University of Vermont Medical Center, after a battle with pulmonary issues. Born in Middlesex, England, she married Lt. Robert L. Kraker, Sr, an officer in the US Air Force. One of the highlights of her life was spending the next 14 years as a military wife. She loved being active in Officers' Wives' groups, planning social functions and providing support for other military wives and their families. Just prior to his retirement, Margaret & Bob decided on Colorado Springs as the place they would settle and she remained there for 45 years, until her move to Shelburne, Vermont in 2013 so that she could be closer to her granddaughters. Colorado, however, became her true home and her favorite place on Earth. A devout Catholic, she and her husband were extremely active in the church, helping out in a myriad of ways, including as members of their parish's Little Parish program, which helped them constantly learn about and grow in their faith, while making lifelong friendships with the people involved. She enjoyed sewing, crafts and finding great bargains. She always enjoyed traveling and she loved the years she spent working as a Teacher's Aide with Special Needs children. In the last few years of her life, she joined her daughter and family on several family vacations and reunions and always looked forward to going to various events with them, especially the band, chorus and theater productions her granddaughters were involved in. Margaret was known for her kindness, gentleness, good sense of humor and as someone whose friends and family were the most important things in her life. She is predeceased by her husband, Robert L Kraker, Sr, her brother, Tom Sylvester and her sister, Dorothy (Sylvester) Smitheman. She is survived by her two children, Robert "Lee" Kraker, Jr., and wife Vikki, of Colorado Springs, CO; Suzanne (Kraker) Dunbar and husband Michael, of Essex Junction, VT; 4 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visiting services will be on Sun, June 3rd from 3-5pm at Swan-Law Funeral Home, 501 North Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs, CO, with a rosary service following at 5:00. Funeral services will be held at 9:30am on Mon, June 4th at Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, 901 North Logan Ave, Colorado Springs, CO, with interment to follow at 1:30pm at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 West Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO. Margaret always wanted her funeral to be a celebration of her life, so attendants are encouraged to wear bright, happy colors. Her favorite color was yellow.
