Posted:September 20Muren Deborah (Garrett) Muren February 24, 1954 September 14, 2017 It is with the heaviest of hearts for those of us left behind, that I announce the passing of Deborah Ann Muren (nee Garrett), 63, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Thursday, September 14, 2017. She was a longtime member of Washington Avenue Christian Church in Amarillo, Texas until relocating to Colorado Springs in 1974. Deb, as she preferred to be called, was born in Amarillo, Texas to Royce Garrett, who preceded her in death, and Chrystal (nee Winegar). Her beautiful soprano voice and acting talent bloomed during her Junior and Senior High career. Both were brought together in her portrayal of Dolly Levi in the play, "Hello Dolly", during her senior year at Amarillo High. Deb continued to sing throughout her life in church choirs and multiple ensembles, including singing at Easter services in Glenn Eyrie Castle at the Navigators in Colorado Springs. Her love for the Lord was apparent to anyone who drew close to her. This love developed as a child and increased as she grew to know God more. The testimony of everyone attests to her "kindness" and "gentle spirit". Her spiritual temperament and Godly acceptance of others immediately warmed and softened the prickliest personality. She was completely selfless and devoted mother to Kelli Taylor, Jonathan Muren, Harmony Longenecker (Joshua), and Mark Abram Muren (Rachel), who survive her. Her love and commitment to them and to her grandchildren was second only to her love for God. She always believed the role of mother, comforter, and caregiver were spiritual gifts and her highest calling. Her deep compassion for others and Christ-like servant's heart are her legacy. She cherished entertaining friends, loved her horses, and the several Great Danes she owned and cared for over the years. A voracious reader, she believed sitting by her fireplace at home in Black Forest with a good book was a perfect autumn day. Deb is also survived by her mother Chrystal Mickel of Tyler; brothers Dr. Kenneth Garrett, Granite Shoals, Cameron McMinn, Amarillo; husband Mark E. Muren, Colorado Springs; and her seven adoring grandchildren, Hannah Osowicki, Addison Longenecker, Aubrey Longenecker, Gavin Longenecker, Kayan Longenecker, Sarasota, Florida, Elliott Muren and Jack Muren, Oak Park, Illinois. Nieces Jodie Goodman, April Oglesby, Amarillo, Reedie Garrett, Mims, Florida, and nephews Michael Garrett, Salida, Colorado, Tyler Garrett, Pflugerville, Texas and Jared Garrett, Horseshoe Bay, Texas. She will be honored at a celebration of life service on Saturday, September 23, 12:00pm at Washington Avenue Christian Church, Amarillo, Texas. All are welcome to attend. Deb's family will host a dinner and time of fellowship for her longtime WACC friends following the service.Posted:September 20AKC REG CHAMP LINES, YELLOW LAB PUPS $750, 3 M & 1 F.
