Broadmoor Fire Protection District fire crews conducted a drill Wednesday by the Will Rogers Shrine in the Cheyenne Moutain Zoo, according to zoo officials.

Spokeswoman Erica Meyer said the zoo was the site of a drill to practice the fire department's evacuation plan, in conjunction with City of Colorado Springs emergency management officials and several other agencies.

Scanner traffic about 9 a.m. indicated the firefighters were practicing battling a half-acre blaze near Old Stage Road and West Cheyenne Mountain Boulevard.
