It's been 500 years since German monk Martin Luther began the Protestant Reformation by splitting with the Roman Catholic Church. To celebrate that anniversary, Immanuel Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs will host a 90-minute Reformation Hymn Fest at 2 p.m. Oct. 22.
In the church sanctuary, organists will lead the gathering in historic hymns written by Luther. Other music will be provided by Parish House Baroque.
Afterward, a free Oktoberfest dinner - complete with brats, hot dogs, German side dishes and root beer - will be served from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Organ Gym. Jim Calm will play the Joel Kremer Theatre Organ, the largest theater pipe organ in Colorado.
A free-will offering will be accepted at both events. All are invited to attend.
The entrance is in the alley, with more parking near the Prospect Street entrance.
