LONGMONT — The Colorado Department of Transportation is planning to remove flood debris in Boulder, Weld, Larimer and Jefferson Counties this week.

The Longmont Times-Call reports (http://bit.ly/196bolU ) CDOT is asking residents who live near U.S. highways 34 and 36, as well as Colorado highways 7, 60, 66, 72 and 119, to drop the debris off at sites next to the highway but off of the pavement. Crews will not be going onto private properties or city or county roads to pick up the debris, so residents must place it along the highway to have it removed.

A second round of debris pickup is scheduled for after the holidays and a third is set for mid to late January.

September's floods killed nine people, damaged or destroyed nearly 2,000 homes and washed out hundreds of miles of roads.
