CCPD: Shooting involving husband, wife likely murder/suicide

The Canon City Police Department is grieving two of their own after an incident occurred Thursday evening, which indicates a murder/suicide.

CCPD officials said Friday that a shooting involved Daniel Samento, 56, a retired CCPD officer, and Priscilla Samento, 49, a CCPD dispatcher.

"This is a devastating event for the Cañon City Police Department," said CCPD Chief Paul Schultz. "Our department is in a great deal of pain right now. We appreciate the support of the community, and we're going to try to deal with this the best that we can."
