CC Tigers playing hockey overseas: Brian Connelly, Nick Dineen, Gabe Guentzel, Cody Lampl, Rylan Schwartz

Former Colorado College defenseman Brian Connelly has signed a one-year contract extension with Dornbirner in Austria's top pro league.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder recorded 24 points (21 assists) in 36 games in his first year with Dornbirner. He joined the Austrian league before the 2015-16 season, recording 33 points (30 assists) in 67 games with Red Bull Salzburg. The Bloomington, Minn. native, 31, spent 7-plus seasons in the American Hockey League before heading overseas.
Dornbirner was founded in 1992 and plays in the 4,270-capacity Messestadion. The 12-team EBEL has eight Austrian teams, including defending champion Vienna Capitals, and a team in Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Italy.

Also former Tigers center Rylan Schwartz signed a two-year deal in May with the Fischtown Penguins of the top German league after recording recording 60 points (36 assists) for German 2 Heilbronner.

He joins former CC defenseman Cody Lampl (32 points, 25 assists) who is signed for next season in Fischtown.

Past Tigers captain Nick Dineen is headed to Lillehammer of the Norway Division 1 league after two seasons with Bad Nauheim (Germany). He played for Lillehammer during the 2013-14 season (65 points, 40 assists, 57 games).

Former Tigers defenseman Gabe Guentzel signed a one-year extension recently with the Augsberger Panthers in the top German league.
