Cascade Avenue was briefly closed from Bijou Street to Pikes Peak Avenue as law enforcement cleared debris from a bicycle accident that occurred late Friday morning.

A female bicyclist was transported for treatment, but didn't appear to have serious injuries after she was struck by a Chevrolet Blazer at the intersection of Cascade and Pikes Peak avenues at about 11:40 a.m., Colorado Springs police said.

One witness said the bicyclist collided with the Blazer when the vehicle was turning onto Cascade after stopping at the Pikes Peak stop sign.

The driver in the Chevy was unharmed, police said.

Officers were putting gloves, plastic beads and other personal belongings scattered on the street into bags at about 12:15 p.m. The bicycle was underneath the Blazer.

Police expected Cascade Avenue to reopen once the remaining items were removed.
