Fire crews prevented an early-morning vehicle fire from spreading to a motel Monday, according to the Colorado Springs fire department.

Firefighters found an SUV fully engulfed in flames when they arrived at the Chief Motel on the 1600 block of South Nevada Avenue about 3 a.m., fire officials said.

The cause for the blaze remained under investigation and one of the windows in an adjacent motel room was broken, but there were no injuries reported. city spokeswoman Kim Melchor said.
