Cañon City Police Officers were dispatched at 11:27 p.m. Thursday to the 700 block of Whipple to check on the welfare of a Cañon City Police Department communications officer who had failed to show for her late night shift and was not answering telephone calls.

Upon arrival at the residence officers were able to enter and found the bodies of Priscilla Samento, 49, of Canon City and Daniel Samento, a 56-year-old retired police officer of Cañon City. Investigation is ongoing but all indications point towards a murder/suicide.
