Canon City Chamber ends contract with executive director

The Ca?n City Chamber of Commerce has terrmined the contract with Executive Director Doug Shane because of a loss of revenue streams to support his salary.

A statement released Tuesday by the chamber said "the change at the top has become necessary due to loss of some critical chamber funding sources."

Shane did not return a call from the Daily Record seeking comment.

Chamber President Mike Bandera said in the release Shane had been with the chamber for six years and was responsible for growing chamber membership to record levels.

"Our membership is now in the 400s, and it was somewhere in the 300s when he started," he said.
