GROTON, Conn. (AP) — Budget cuts at the Pentagon are having an effect on the schedule of a popular tourist destination in Groton.
The Navy says the Historic Ship Nautilus and Submarine Force Library and Museum will be closed on Mondays, in addition to its regularly scheduled closures on Tuesday.
The change takes effect the week of July 8 and will be in place until further notice.
Museums operating within the Naval History and Heritage Command are closing one day a week as a result of furloughs announced for the Department of Defense.
The command's headquarters in the Washington Navy Yard will also close Mondays and it already has closed its archives for visits.
