ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK — The body of a 25-year-old hiker found on Longs Peak has been recovered.

Rangers were able to reach the body of Matthew D. Burklow of Fort Collins on Thursday.

He planned to summit the peak in Rocky Mountain National Park on Monday but never returned. His body was found Tuesday but bad weather delayed the recovery mission.

Burklow's body was found 1,000 feet below the Keyhole Route. It's a popular but challenging route. It crosses some sheer vertical rock faces and falls there can be fatal.
