Vinny Benedetto bio

I’ll be covering a bit of everything from prep sports to the Switchbacks to road races and hopefully a lot more.

I come to Colorado Springs after stops at newspapers in Hays, Kan., and Gothenburg, Neb. I was born and raised in Omaha, Neb., and graduated from Creighton University with a degree in journalism in 2010 (go Bluejays).

No worries, Big 8/12-era Buffs fans, I do not cheer for the Huskers.

Thanks to my father’s roots in northeast Ohio, I do root for Cleveland professional teams. Unfortunately, that includes the Browns. Luckily, “The Drive” came a couple of years before me, so I’m mostly impartial when it comes to Denver’s professional teams. I’m a big U.S. soccer supporter and keep up with the top club teams in Europe.

When I’m not working, I hope to get up to Red Rocks for a couple of concerts and explore the outdoor offerings of the area. The latter might take some time as a reformed flatlander.

Information on pickup basketball or soccer games and brewery recommendations would be appreciated.
