Next year’s Colorado College hockey schedule has taken shape, with dates set but all times still TBA. A few thoughts...

So nice, they’ll do it twice

Colorado College drew some side-eye last season with strong early showings against Alaska-Anchorage - the Tigers’ only series sweep of the season - and then-No. 17 New Hampshire. They’ll get cracks at both again before November begins.

Playing Air Force much earlier

Air Force will try to hold onto the Pikes Peak Trophy for the fifth straight season before anyone’s had a chance to settle in, on Oct. 13.

Happy New Year?

CC will play Arizona State the same weekend as last season, midway through December, then have a fun-sounding New Year’s Eve bash at Merrimack on a Monday night. I hear North Andover is lovely that time of year?

The Battle for the Gold Pan will have to wait until 2019

The Tigers and completely revamped Pioneers will meet Jan. 18-19 and March 8-9. How Denver responds after losing its top talent and coach to the NHL will be a big storyline next year.

No Lawson Lunatics this season

The Tigers get one series each against National Collegiate Hockey Conference foes Western Michigan (home) and Omaha (away).

(They) are the champions

Defending national champions Minnesota-Duluth will be around, of course. The Tigers play them there Nov. 9-10 and home Feb. 1-2.
