A squirrel in Black Forest dodged a bullet, but a man working nearby did not.

A 70-year-old man shooting at a squirrel Friday in Black Forest accidentally wounded a man who was working on an adjacent property, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office said.

The alleged shooter, Gregory Watson, was issued a summons for third-degree assault and prohibited use of a weapon, both misdemeanors.

"The victim received minor injury and sought treatment at a local hospital," the sheriff's office said.

Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Jeff Kramer said the 67-year-old victim was shot in the arm.

The shooting happened about 1 p.m. in the 7000 block of Shoup Road.
