Black Forest residents were on edge Tuesday night when a trailer home caught on fire and the all-too familiar sound of emergency engines returned to their neighborhood.
Around 10:30 p.m., Black Forest Fire, Westcott Fire Protection District, Tri-Lakes and Falcon Fire crews were dispatched to the 11600 block of Black Forest Road.
Black Forest Fire Department Lt. Rick Robirds said one resident and an animal were inside the mobile home but were able to get out in time without sustaining injuries.
"The fire was knocked down within the first eight minutes, contained to the back bedroom and the bathroom," Robirds said. "Then we spent quite some time in the interior of the trailer, for clean up."
All units cleared out about 1 a.m. from the 1970s trailer, Robirds said, which he said is a total loss.
Robirds said the cause of the blaze was most likely an electrical failure in the home, but investigators were still assessing the scene.
