People affected by the Black Forest fire can seek advice of fire victims from the Mountain Shadows neighborhood at the Black Forest Fire Mentoring Connections meeting 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at The Pinery, 12375 Black Forest Road.
The group offers a chance for people affected by the Black Forest fire to sit down with people who lost homes in the Waldo Canyon fire to discuss a wide range of issues, including how to file insurance claims and how to deal with the grief of losing a home.
Also, a meeting of the Black Forest fire long-range recovery planning committee will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the El Paso County Charles “Chuck” Brown Transportation and Environmental Complex, 3275 Akers Drive.
Topics include construction updates and financial assistance programs. It’s meant to offer residents information for recovering from the blaze, which killed two people, destroyed 488 homes and torched 14,280 acres in northern EL Paso County.
